Scope:

51³Ô¹ÏÍø is proud to contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of AIATSIS, a national cultural institution dedicated to preserving and sharing the stories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australia. This project highlights our commitment to supporting organisations that play a vital role in cultural preservation and resurgence.

The AIATSIS Roof Replacement Project includes:

  • Replacement of roof sheeting across key building zones
  • Heavy lifting and craning of 31-meter roof sheets using a 130T crane
  • Careful scheduling of work to ensure safe and efficient operations in a high-profile site
  • Ongoing coordination to minimise disruption to the functioning of the institute
Stage 1 – Zone 1 has been successfully completed, with early starts and extended workdays ensuring both safety and efficiency.

Key Considerations:

Delivering this project required meticulous planning, technical precision and adherence to strict safety standards. Key factors include:

  • Working on a culturally significant national site, respecting both the heritage of the organisation and the broader First Nations community
  • Maintaining a strong focus on safety while handling large-scale roofing materials and heavy lifting operations
  • Engagement and reflection on cultural significance, exemplified through events such as NAIDOC Week celebrations on-site
  • Supporting Indigenous employment and skills development through meaningful participation in the project

This project demonstrates 51³Ô¹Ï꿉۪s commitment to combining technical expertise with cultural awareness, contributing to national institutions that support First Nations communities.
